While Rep. Stephanie Herseth’s terrific appearance at Mansfield Metcalf put South Dakota on the mind of many a MT Democrat in the last few weeks, some exciting news from a different neighbor has me grinning this morning. Gary Trauner leads in cash on hand in the three-way race for Wyoming’s open House seat by an intimidating margin. Not only that, but he’s doing it a retail rural politics fashion, much in the way that many might run for a state leg seat here in Montana. His two opponents had to lay down $300k and $67k of their own money to even stay competitive–I think this one is looking like a done deal. Sending Jim Hunt and Gary Trauner to Congress as a two-punch Rocky Mountain combo would be pretty cool if you ask me.
