Huck Comes to Montana, Roy Brown Pandering Exposed

April 29th, 2008 · 2 Comments

So former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is coming to Montana to campaign for Roy Brown tomorrow. I’m sure Brown will welcome Huckabee with open arms given their similarly extremist social values, support for sales taxes, etc… On the other hand, I imagine that Brown will quietly play down some contrast between himself and the Arkansas governor for fear that his own words will look like empty rhetoric:

Roy Brown proudly trumpets, “We need accountable and responsible spending in government.” But this doesn’t quite jive with Gov. Huckabee’s record of
20% growth in state government jobs under his administration. So which is it?

Or how about Brown’s calling of Gov. Schweitzer’s $400 tax rebate a “little gimmick?” This stands in stark contrast with Gov. Huckabee’s endorsement of nearly the same measure in his state. Gov. Schweitzer also responsibly called for a rainy day fund, particularly in light trouble economic indicators looming on the horizon. In similar fashion, Gov. Huckabee called the creation of rainy day fund a top priority. On the other hand, Roy Brown criticized Gov. Schweitzer’s move to save a little for the tough times we’re now facing. So once again, which is it Roy?

Conservatives go for sales taxes because the rich pay less and working folk pay more of their disposable income, on a percentage basis. Just goes to show that Roy Brown favors corporations over working families. Hope the MSM picks up on the differences between Governor Brian Schweitzer and Roy Brown on the sales tax and other pocket book issues.
