Your Tax Dollars Paying for Partisanship

April 19th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Over at Big Sky Cairn, Wiley Cody (I feel silly even typing it) tries to somehow turn the fact that Denny Rehberg taxpayers pay Erik Iverson $175,000 $160,000 a year to stay in Montana and chair the state GOP into a good thing. Never mind that he’s supposed to be managing Rehberg’s DC office and staff–proximity to Montana constituents apparently trumps all. After all, how would we communicate with him if he was all the way across the country? Magic? Smoke signals? Pony express?

Perhaps Montanans could communicate with Iverson the same way they do with the other Congressional staff members their taxes support: via phone, email, etc… Cody’s sorry excuse for Iverson’s fraudulent work as the state GOP chairman is an offense to the good senses of all Montanans, and Jim Hunt is right to call Rep. Rehberg/Iverson on their stunt. If Iverson wants to clear the air, he should publish a daily schedule of his work and meetings so that we know we aren’t supporting partisan activities with tax dollars.

The right want us to believe that it is better that Iverson is here, high up in his mansion overlooking us all down here in the Valley. It shows he’s connected with Montanans.

That being said - that’s a pretty fricking high salary. Wonder how that compares with other similar staffers of representatives of similar esteem and productivity and influence?

And if my tax dollars are going towards feeding that right-wingnut machine, well, that’s $@^&!

Seriously. You need to get a life and stop criticizing Iverson for everything he does. Who cares if he wants to stay in Montana? Obviously he’s been pretty effective both as Denny’s chief of staff and the chair of the Montana GOP. Stop trying to pound the guy into the ground for being such a success on both ends. If and when you have proof that he’s using tax dollars to support the MT GOP, please show us. Until then, get over it.
